Strong currents feed an abundance of life: manta rays, reef sharks and dense schools of reef fish. Dive packages usually take in several sites inside the park.

Snorkellers get sheltered bays and shallow reefs, often with sea turtles. Conditions are typically best in the dry season, April to November, when seas are calmer.

Raja Ampat

The epicentre of marine biodiversity

The number of fish species, corals and macro life here is staggering. Trips take in Piaynemo's karst islands and vibrant reefs; Wayag is reached only by liveaboard, and access can change — check before booking.

Manta rays are a highlight for photographers. We reach remote sites by liveaboard, or by speedboat for shorter excursions.

  • Piaynemo karsts; Wayag by liveaboard
  • Manta rays, best December to March
  • Fly to Sorong (SOQ), then about 2–3 hours by boat to Waisai
